executive coaching utilizes the tools and processes
of the "Transformational Coaching" model
described in the book The
Heart of Coaching by
San Diego based author and organizational development
consultant Tom Crane.
Transformational
coaching is a methodology that helps individuals
clarify objectives, design strategies and take effective
action consistent with the vision and mission of
the organization.
This is
accomplished through a series of coaching sessions,
which may typically last an hour and be held once
each week. In these sessions, among other things,
the coach will ask powerful questions, explore beliefs,
share perceptions of performance and behaviors, and
respectfully and reflectively listen. The coach will
also suggest options, request specific changes and
actions, and jointly develop a follow up plan with
the client.
